Guarneriana Library is located in the central square of San Daniele del Friuli to the right side of the Cathedral, in the former Town Hall. It was founded in 1466. It is the oldest public library in Friuli. The library was created to preserve the donation of 160 codes, a collection of Guarniero of Artegna, a fifteen century humanist. Grown over time, nowadays it has 1200 masterpieces.
I can’t even explain what I feel looking at this ancient volumes and books, gratitude for those who have worked so hard to create this immense heritage.
The most important pieces of the library are a Byzantine Bible of the late twelfth century and a Divine Comedy of the late fourteenth.
Mmmh, after the visit you deserve a Prosciutto break, we are in prosciutto homeland!
